TROMATONIC makes it's OWN DAMN MOVIE!! OK - this particular item on Tromatonic.com is Non Troma, but as it is Tromatonically releated I figured I might do some promotion for My Own Damn Movie here. After all I have been inspired to undertake this project by Lloyd Kaufman's acclaimed series of books and DVD's on the subject of making your own damn movie (available on www.amazon.com and at the Troma Studio Store at www.troma.com - buy them and REVIEW them on all big online stores to inform other people these are essential material!). And I am incredibly grateful to the man for giving all this information - without it I wouldn't have gotten the idea, or the sheer audacity, to start producing, directing and editing at all. The film is currently in the editing stage - although some scenes still have to be filmed as well. What now is this film all about??? It is an as yet untitled documentary of a Dutch band named LITTLE ROCK (that coincidentally has a guitarist that looks suspiciously like me who goes by the name of The General for reasons you might find explained on the band's MySpace and who never performs without Praising the Lloyd). The documentary will feature many songs played live by the band, which I am editing now - I decided it would be better to finish those scenes first and then shoot some non-concert footage I am scripting, plus some archival material I believe will enhance the picture I am trying to present in order to give the audience an idea of the band and it's music. Plus some new live footage that will be filmed at a few shows in the coming weeks, which will feature some new tracks that weren't included in the filmed show. I knowthis is a non-linear way of working, but as my head is incapable of overseeing too many things that still have to be done and completed this way of working fits me a lot better. Here is one of the tracks in it's final edit (unless I decide to change some TINY things later on) with fully mixed sound as it will appear in the film. The song is titled THE OLD NEIGHBOURHOOD and is written and composed by singer/guitarist and bandleader Kees Menion.
The music has been recorded as a 20-track digital master, and then mixed by me and Kees. We aimed at re-creating the sound and atmosphere of the concert - the music will be released on CD in may 2009 already! Titled SHADOWS ON THE WALL and released by Finishing Touch Recording Company. Check back here or at LITTLE ROCK's myspace for more information about availability. The DVD will be released later this year! More information on the production will be added regularly, so keep informed. Here's another clip, a sneak preview of the DVD. Note that this is a rough edit, and with as yet unmixed sound!!
