CALL TO SUPPORT INDEPENDENT CINEMA

Thanks to the internet and the service some online shops provide, we too can let our opinions be known, we can let the world know that there is so much more than just expensive pre-fab, lame entertainment, we can take matters in our own hands and no longer have to depent on those so called professional critics who care nothing about film but only about what their boss wants them to write, we can educate all those browsing filmlovers about what is REALLY going on by writing about our favorite movies on many different websites, under the customer reviews.

WE CAN INFILTRATE and BE REVIEWERS OURSELVES.

Of course these writings don't have to be literary masterpieces. (I have the disadvantage that I feel that the more and the more serious I go into the subject, the more people might TAKE is seriously and thus will act upon my advice, but of course there is no proof whatsoever to support this theory. A negative point of this is that my output is rather slow, and less titles can be advertised in this manner.) When I spoke to Lloyd Kaufman about this in 2006 he wisely said that "two lines are enough", which of course is true - and two lines by every person who likes the film makes for a huge chunk of comments, and the more comments there are, the more people want to read them and get interested. There actually IS proof to support that statement.

THE REVIEWS I SUBMITTED can be found here

I have been writing these for some time, and initially this site collected what I had written everywhere (at least on the  sites mentioned below) about those Troma films. The ever expanding number of these infiltrating reviews will stay the core of TROMATONIC.COM as everytime I watch a Troma-movie (and any related independent films that I see) I start putting my opinions everywhere on the net - and here. Before I started doing this I already had seen a vast number of Troma-titles, but to write something trustworthy I want to watch them again, which is a great way of spending interesting and educating time. So, in time this site will be more and more complete,  and by collecting everything here I hope I can inspire some (or even better: many) of you to write something positive about the wonderful releases Troma offers us. This may be a small way to contribute, but when I see that my reviews for a number of films were "useful to an X number of customers", which in many cases means they bought the thing as well, I know at least some more people have seen some great DVD's, Troma gained some more fame, and they made some extra money to invest in new art. The more people join in and make impressive lists of positive reviews, the more chance there is that Troma can keep on surviving even the hardest times. And believe me, they are stil getting harder for even a world-famous independent studio like Troma.

Not only other fans or potential viewers of the films I review contact me, in a few occasions  I even got a nice reaction from the directors of reviewd films after they appear on IMDB or other sites (the director of Troma's masterpiece VIRAL ASSASSINS , Robert Larkin, being the first), which again shows that these things are READ.

So I hope you enjoy reading my own experiences watching Troma's fine catalogue, and I hope I may have gotten you a little enthousiastic in sharing your opinion with the world on those websites.

After writing the reviews I cut and paste them to the appropriate section of these websites

of course the shop of   http://www.troma.com          www.imdb.com

www.amazon.com (which results in an automatic publishing at www.cdnow.com

www.amazon.ca               www.dvduniverse.com               www.dvdempire.com

www.bizrate.com               www.overstock.com           And in the Netherlands: www.bol.com

Bizrate and Overstock are sometimes a bit of a nuissance as it often happens that, as soon as you try to upload your review, they mention that your review cannot be published because they found PROFANITY in it. That means that any word as offending as "sex", "booz" and such have to be replaced by something a bit more family-friendly. One wonders why they sell titles if even the discription is too much for them, but then again, why should we care, as long as they sell them.
